Towards the light

"I step into the unknown,

Wanting to defend mystery against miracles.

I step into the absolute whose relative I am,

Knowledge is my compass in the unknown,

And the unknown an ocean.

I step into the elixir of knowledge

To discover the infinite within me

And the circle of another abyss.

I have the ideal as a guide

And I want to reach it...

Nothing is nothing,

Progress is the ultimate goal.

I walk in the shade,

Therefore to the light!"

Have you ever had an unexpected encounter that gave you a helpful insight or a joyful feeling? Or maybe you discovered or learned something that made you feel like you are on the right path and your heart was full and excited? I trust you have experienced these feelings under different circumstances. One time this happened to me, it was when I stumbled upon this poem you can read above (in Romanian and translated into English) and which I wrote almost 18 years ago.

Towards the light” was one of my last poems I posted online on www.poezie.ro. A bit over an year ago, when I was already back into writing, I stumbled upon it. I remembered what was happening in my life when I wrote it. While now I would change a few lines, I was impressed about how I used to translate my feelings when I was 14 years old, and moved by the faith I had considering the circumstances. The poem's motivational message was so contemporary with my state of being and it was speaking volumes to me. It felt like a fated encounter with my younger version, and lots of flashbacks and downloads flowed into my body. I was being reminded that I started a journey to discover the infinite within and, on this journey, while there might be times when my path will go through shade (yes, you can see the hopefullness right there as I used the term "shade" instead of "dark"), it will ultimately lead me to light.

Rereading this with my adult voice, I got both the confirmation that I am on the right path, and that I am at home within and everything I need is already inside me. It gave me so much joy that I felt like hugging my younger self (which in my mind I did) and thank her for all the light and joy she created and kept on creating.

Since I wrote this poem, my journey took various paths (left, right, flat, curved, steep, unknown, fun, sad, you name them) and went through different emotional and growing seasons. All the paths I took led me to where I am today, and I am so happy for how the journey has been until now, and I am looking forward to where it might take me. Above all, I am thankful to the joyful kid who started writing and never stopped believing that there is light within me, within you and within everyone and everywhere in this world.

And now I am asking you - When was the last time you had an encounter with your younger self (if ever)? What would your younger self say to you today? Is there anything you stopped believing in or dreaming about? Take time to tune in with your younger self and see what downloads you might receive.

Enjoy the road to light and don’t stop believing in yourself.

Takeaway thoughts: Connect with your younger self. Believe in yourself and trust in the magical unfolding of your journey.

Love,

Flori
